St. Hubert Catholic School in Hoffman Estates, IL Awarded 2014 National Blue Ribbon Schools Recognition

On September 30, 2014, St. Hubert Catholic School was one of 337 nation-wide schools officially recognized as a 2014 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. In February 2014, the school was one of 50 non-public schools nominated by the Council for American Private Education (CAPE) to be a 2014 National Blue Ribbon School.

Founded in 1982, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students' academic achievement. Recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School is a mark of excellence in education recognized by parents to policymakers in thousands of communities.

This recognition is a tremendous achievement for St. Hubert Catholic School. Vito DeFrisco, the principal, and Marcia Larson, the assistant principal, are the school’s leadership team and are supported by a dedicated and well-credentialed faculty and staff of 41 individuals.

With respect to this recognition, Mr. DeFrisco said, “St. Hubert Catholic School has a long and rich history of providing a solid academic program to the families we serve. We are always looking for ways to improve our programs while encouraging our students to do their best.” Mrs. Larson added, “This formal recognition validates the expertise and dedication of our faculty as well as the exceptional students attending St. Hubert Catholic School.” School officials and supporters attended the formal recognition ceremony in Washington, D.C., on November 10-11, 2014. Blue Ribbon Day
On Tuesday, November 25, the school held a Blue Ribbon assembly in the Multi-Purpose Room (school gym) to celebrate the school's recognition as a 2014 National Blue Ribbon School.

The faculty and staff surprised their students with an impromptu flash mob dance to the popular song "Happy". Students and faculty dressed in blue and wore sunglasses with the inscription "SHS 2014 National Blue Ribbon School" during the celebratory day that included breakfast and a luncheon for the faculty provided by the Family & School Association, performances by the school's band and cheerleaders, and the surprise choreographed dance routine.

Hoffman Estates Mayor William McLeod, along with several attending village trustees, proclaimed the day as "St. Hubert Blue Ribbon Day". Pride and happiness were apparent on each smiling face during the assembly.
