Our technology lab is equipped with desktop computers. Our curriculum provides a solid foundation in computing and online safety that will prepare students to succeed in high school and beyond.
Students will be introduced to a computer mouse and learn keyboard skills. We will work on mouse skills such as pointing, clicking, double clicking, and dragging objects while we explore the computers and play educational games. Keyboarding will include beginning typing skills as well as being introduced to shortcuts for key functions.
Provides students a fundamental look into computer hardware and operating systems. This will include learning how to operate productivity applications within Microsoft, Google and Apple platforms. Classes will often work on cross curricular lessons. We will focus on computer safety and ethics by continuously learning how to create positive digital footprints. Coding will be introduced and students are encouraged to go at their own pace to problem solve coding challenges.
Provides students a more in depth look into computer operating systems within Microsoft, Google and Apple. We will learn how to collaborate on projects and maximize our research potential. Students will learn how to use creative applications related to Engineering, Art, Music and more. Classes will often work on cross curricular lessons. The students prior coding skill set will be utilized to further their coding capabilities. The importance of Digital Citizenship is emphasized throughout all lessons.
Our Media Center houses our library, STEM resources including our 3D printer, coding, and robotics equipment. Students are given a variety of opportunities for exploratory learning to become problem solvers, inventors, and logical thinkers.
Bee-bots are used in preschool through first grade to introduce programming and problem-solving. Sphero Bolt STEM robots are used in grades 2-8 to explore coding through interactive lessons and games.
All Kindergarten through Eighth Grade students have iPads. Teachers are Apple Certified.
Our library offers students a variety of non-fiction, fiction, and biographical material, as well as, a collection of easy readers and picture books. The librarian and a core of volunteers staff the library. Primary-grade students are introduced to basic library skills. These skills include parts of a book, how to use the library, the library catalog, and basic research skills. Library class for the fourth-grade student builds on the skills learned in the primary grades. All students are encouraged to check out library books. Reference books, such as dictionaries, atlases, almanacs, and/or encyclopedias are not available for checkout. but are available for student use during the school day.
